Hello there :) My name is Mae Kurihara (it's pronounced Curry-har-uh).
I am 22 years old. For me, photography began only as a simple hobby, something to pass the time in my quiet hometown, a way to look back in time as it were to remember the moments within my short life. In the meantime, I began college, graduated, and became certified as an x-ray technician. Yet, all the while, my love for photography grew and grew.
For practice, I'd beg my friends to dress up and model for me, I'd spend my limited (because all college students are broke) funds on props, photo-shoot worthy outfits, and furniture, I'd drive out to faraway fields and abandoned buildings just to shoot photographs. I'd daydream and imagine poses, outfits, anything photo-related... that's how much I loved photography.
And now, here I am, still in love with photography.
My goal as a photographer is to capture life and personality in my images. In other words, I want my photographs to have heart. The little moments caught between those that love each other, the little facial expressions that make your child so unique and special, the beauty that every human on this earth carries... that's what I aim to capture.
My work is at its best, when I take a very artistic approach to photography. I prefer a more modern, fashion inspired style as opposed to traditional photography. Hopefully, dear visitor, you are looking for just that in your photos :)
